Why the ocean is salty?
When rain falls, it picks up tiny bits of salt and minerals from rocks and soil, and then those flow into rivers and eventually into the ocean. Also, volcanoes under the sea add more minerals and salts to the water. Over millions of years, these salts have built up, making the ocean salty.
⭐ Bonus fact: If you dried up all the salt in the ocean, it would cover all the land on Earth to a depth of over 500 feet!
