Why leaves change color in the fall?
Trees stop making green chlorophyll when the days get shorter and colder. This lets other colors, like yellow and orange, that were always hiding in the leaves finally show through! Red and purple colors are made from sugars trapped in the leaves.
⭐ Bonus fact: The brighter the sunlight and the colder the nights, the more vibrant the fall colors will be!
