Why does some animal hibernate?

Animals hibernate to save energy during cold winter months when food is hard to find. They enter a deep sleep where their body temperature, breathing, and heart rate all slow way down. They live off the fat they stored in their bodies during warmer times.

⭐ Bonus fact: Bears aren't true hibernators; they go into a lighter sleep called torpor and can wake up more easily.
