Why stars twinkle?

Stars are very far away, and their light travels a long distance to reach us. On its journey, the light passes through Earth's atmosphere, which is full of moving air. This moving air bends and scatters the starlight a tiny bit, making the star look like it's twinkling.

⭐ Bonus fact: Planets don't twinkle because they are much closer to Earth and appear as larger, steadier points of light.
